Discussion on the selection of diesel generator sets for civil buildings (1)

Selection of appropriate back-up power to meet the requirements of power supply of fire load and other important load emergency situations, is a problem that can not be ignored in electric design of civil building, we generally use diesel generators as emergency AC power, then the selection of diesel engine generator unit should pay attention to what the problem? I think we should pay attention to the following points.

1. set principles

"Civil building electrical design standard" JGJ / T16 - 923.1 provisions: the fire pump, fire elevator, smoke facilities, automatic fire alarm and automatic fire extinguishing device, electricity load level of fire emergency lighting, fire doors, electric shutter, valves and other fire in civil buildings, shall meet the requirements of current national "high civil code for fire protection design of buildings" and "code for fire protection design of buildings".

According to "code for fire protection design of high-rise buildings", GB50045 (2001 Edition) 9.1 stipulates that a class of high-rise buildings should be powered by the first class load, and two types of high-rise buildings should be powered by the two level load requirements. "Civil building electrical design standard" JGJ / T16 - 923.1 article: by a load of two power supply when a power failure occurs, another power will not be damaged simultaneously; allow the two class load, also should adopt the two way power supply, especially for fire fighting two load, power supply should be according to the two circuit requirements; the special important load, in addition to the above two power supply, emergency power supply must also add. According to these regulations, the author sums up the setting principle of self-contained diesel generator set:

(1) when the civil buildings need to press a load power supply, if the city grid can provide two independent power supply (with a preparation or can not substitute for each other), a diesel generator; but when there is a particularly important load, the general should set diesel generator as an emergency power supply.

(2) when the power grid can provide only one power supply, in order to meet the power supply requirements for the one or two stage load, the diesel generator set should be set up. The unit will be used as standby power supply and emergency power supply.

(3) in large and medium-sized commercial buildings, a diesel generating set should be installed in order to ensure that the power supply fails to cause greater economic losses when the power supply is interrupted. The city power grid can not be completely independent, sometimes a power failure or maintenance, another power may fail simultaneously, therefore, even if there are two or more power supply, to ensure that the civil building fire protection and other important equipment (such as intelligent equipment, communications equipment and so on) the reliable power supply, generally set diesel generator unit.
